PICOM–2026 highlights need for ethical, human-centric leadership in AI era

Indore (Team Newsbuddy): Emphasising that technology can augment intelligence but can never substitute human values, Prof. Dr. R. Venkata Rao, Vice Chancellor, India International University of Legal Education and Research (IIULER), Goa, said leadership in the age of artificial intelligence must be firmly anchored in empathy, ethics and moral consciousness. Addressing the valedictory session of the XXI International Conference PICOM–2026 at the Prestige Institute of Management and Research (PIMR), he observed that sustainable growth is achievable only when innovation is guided by inner wisdom, human sensitivity and ethical grounding.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Justin Paul, a senior academician from the USA, highlighted the transformative role of AI in marketing and digital transformation. He urged leaders to follow the “Learn & Leverage” approach, stressing responsible use of AI, adaptability to rapid digital change and effective utilisation of platforms such as UPI and DigiYatra to promote innovation and inclusive growth.
Dr. Sandeep Kumar Poddar, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research & Innovation), Lincoln University College, Malaysia, elaborated on Industry 5.0, identifying resilient, human-centric and sustainable strategies as its core pillars. He underlined the need for leaders to continuously rethink and reinvent to remain relevant in a dynamic global environment.
Highlighting the foundational role of research in leadership, Dr. Ratan Singh, Vice Chancellor, Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University, Patiala, cautioned against the superficial use of technological jargon. He emphasised that leadership must be built on strong fundamentals, ethical responsibility and deep societal awareness.
Dr. Souvik Roy stressed Dharma-based leadership, adaptability and ethical vigilance in research and digital engagement, noting that while AI is a powerful tool, human judgment and values remain irreplaceable.
In his address, Dr. S. S. Bhakar, Group Director, PIMR, Indore, described resilience as the defining trait of leaders facing economic, social and institutional challenges, highlighting the importance of ethical research and adaptive strategies.
Earlier, Dr. Anukool Manish Hyde, Conference Secretary, presented the conference report, highlighting international participation, multidisciplinary technical sessions, the Editors’ Meet, the Best Ph.D. Contest, alumni awards and academic MoUs.
The conference concluded with an Awards and Momentos Ceremony, followed by a
Vote of Thanks by Col. Prof. Dr. Subramanian Raman Iyer, marking a meaningful close to PICOM–2026.
