Indore(Team Newsbuddy): Preeti Maan, a senior photographer specializing in art and culture, stated that becoming a photographer is easy in today’s era, but remaining one is a challenging task. Maan was interacting with media personnel at the State Press Club, Madhya Pradesh, as part of their dialogue program.
Maan, hailing from Dhamanod in Nimad, developed a passion for photography while traveling. She has worked with the BBC, capturing art and cultural events, and has become a well-known photographer in the country.
Maan noted that the current generation is rapidly taking to photography, thanks to mobile phones. While instant work can be done using mobile phones, high-quality photography is only possible with cameras. In the context of mobile journalism, Maan said that opportunities for photography in print media have become limited, whereas online and mobile journalism are utilizing photography more extensively.
Maan emphasized that there is no difference between male and female photographers. She has climbed walls and trees to capture shots, just like her male counterparts, and has faced challenges. Despite being based in New Delhi, Maan has covered events like Simhastha, Tribal Museum Bhopal, and Bhagoria in Madhya Pradesh. She plans to visit historic sites like Bagh, Chanderi, Orchha, and Gwalior for photography.
Maan also mentioned that she will be organizing a portrait photography exhibition in Bhopal in the coming months. Additionally, she is working on publishing a book based on detailed interviews with 47 artists from across the country.
Maan observed that wedding photography has good scope nowadays, with many educated youth entering the field. She shared the mantra for photography: “right time, right place, and the right click.”
The program began with Preeti Maan being welcomed by State Press Club, Madhya Pradesh, President Praveen Kharival and Treasurer Sonali Yadav. Cartoonist Govind Lahoti ‘Kumar’ presented her with a caricature. Senior journalists Mohan Narvariya, Sameer Khan, Jitendra Singh Bhatia, and Sudesh Gupta presented her with mementos and literature. Meena Rana Shah expressed gratitude at the end of the program.
