Indore: Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav presented the city’s ₹8,175 crore municipal budget today, focusing on digitalization, infrastructure expansion, and sustainability—all without imposing new taxes.
A key highlight is the launch of an advanced online portal to streamline civic services, ensuring seamless access for residents. The budget also expands digital payment options for municipal taxes and services, promoting transparency and ease of transactions.
With a record ₹2,000 crore allocation for infrastructure, the city will witness new flyovers, road widening projects, and upgraded water supply and drainage systems to tackle growing urban demands. Sewerage networks and stormwater drains will be modernized to enhance urban sanitation.
In a major sustainability push, ₹200 crore has been earmarked for a state-of-the-art waste-to-energy plant that will process 500 tonnes of waste daily, generating 6 megawatts of electricity. The initiative strengthens Indore’s leadership in sustainable urban management. AI-driven waste segregation technology will be deployed to boost door-to-door garbage collection efficiency. Green spaces and urban forests will be developed to enhance air quality and aesthetics.
The budget also prioritizes sports, cultural promotions, and Gaushala welfare. A ₹300 crore municipal office building is planned, with IMC securing a ₹250 crore loan and ₹50 crore support from the state government.
With revenue collections surpassing ₹1,000 crore in 2024-25, Indore continues its balanced growth trajectory, integrating modern governance, infrastructure development, and environmental responsibility.
This forward-looking budget cements Indore’s reputation as a future-ready, smart, and sustainable metropolis, ensuring its legacy as India’s cleanest city remains unchallenged.
