Islamabad/Berlin (Team Newsbuddy) — Germany’s famous Olympic champion Laura Dalmayr died in an accident while climbing in the Karakoram mountains of Pakistan. On Monday, while climbing at an altitude of about 18,700 feet, she got trapped between falling rocks, which led to her death.

Two-time Olympic gold medalist Dalmayr was a world-renowned biathlon player and has been very enthusiastic about mountaineering. Mountaineer Marina Eva was also with her in this expedition, who informed the emergency services immediately after the incident.

As soon as the information was received, a team of expert mountaineers from Germany and the US started the rescue operation, but the operation faced great difficulty due to bad weather and strong winds at high altitude. Unfortunately, Dallmayr could not be saved.

His untimely death has caused an outpouring of grief in the sports and mountaineering world. The German Sports Federation and the International Biathlon Union have described it as an “irreparable loss” to the sporting world.
