Mahakal temple accident: 13 devotees including priest injured in fire incident

Ujjain. 13 people including the priest were burnt due to fire in the sanctum sanctorum during Bhasma Aarti in Mahakal temple on Monday morning. Abir-gulal was being applied during Bhasma Aarti. Meanwhile, a fire broke out. Everyone was rushed to the hospital in a hurry, where treatment is going on. At the same time, the fire was controlled in time. The injured servant told that someone poured gulal on the priest Sanjeev, who was performing aarti, from behind. The gulal fell on the lamp. Probably due to the chemical in the gulal, the fire broke out. On the other hand, flex was installed to protect the silver wall of the sanctum sanctorum from color-gulal. The flex also caught fire. Some people controlled the fire with a fire extinguisher. But, by then 13 people including Sanjeev Pujari, Vikas, Manoj, Sevadhari Anand, Kamal Joshi, who were performing aarti in the sanctum sanctorum, got burnt. Ujjain Collector Neeraj Singh said that an inquiry has been ordered. A committee will investigate the matter.
