Indore child murder: Youth gets death penalty

Mahu: 6-year-old Harsh, son of Jitendra Chauhan, was murdered for a ransom of Rs 4 crore on 5 February 2023 in Pigdambar. The main accused in this case were relative Hrithik (Pigdambar), his friend Vikrant (Rau), Hariom (Shajapur) and Hrithik’s younger brother who were arrested. It was alleged that Hrithik and Vikrant had put the child Harsh in the car, stuffed a cloth in his mouth and taped him to death. The mastermind of the incident, Hrithik, is the nephew of the deceased child’s father Jitendra, who lived in a separate room in Pigdambar. Despite this, Hrithik, along with his friend Vikrant, kidnapped Jitendra’s son Harsh and killed him. He wanted a ransom of Rs 4 crore but when he feared getting caught, he killed the kidnapped child Harsh. Indore District Court has given its verdict on the murder of Harsh Chauhan (6), son of a Congress leader, in Pigdambar after not receiving the ransom of Rs 4 crore. Two accused have been awarded death penalty. Another accused has been acquitted. The incident took place on 5 February 2023. Lawyer Ashish Sharma said that the main accused Vikrant and Hrithik have been sentenced to death.
