Master Plan for Indore’s Metropolitan Growth Approved

Indore: Setting the stage for the future growth of Madhya Pradesh’s Commercial capital Indore, a comprehensive master plan for the development of Indore’s proposed Metropolitan Area and Regional Development was approved, in an important meeting here on Sunday, chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav. Highlighting the region’s rapid growth, the Chief Minister stressed the need for systematic planning in the proposed metropolitan and regional development areas, covering the districts of Indore, Ujjain, Dhar, and Dewas. He called for a coordinated development plan that would facilitate industrial growth in the area. With a special focus on the 29 newly incorporated villages under the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC), the Chief Minister directed officials to finalize an action plan for their development within a month.

As per the decision taken in the meeting, the proposed elevated bridge from LIG to Navlakha will be replaced by the construction of six overbridges at key junctions. Furthermore, the ownership issues in the city’s old areas will be resolved, and a system for quick map approvals will be implemented. During the meeting, Dr. Yadav set deadlines for completing various approved and ongoing construction projects in the Indore district.

The meeting was attended by Urban Development and Housing Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, Water Resources Minister Tulsiram Silawat, MP Shankar Lalwani, Mayor, Pushyamitra Bhargava, and several local MLAs, including Ms. Usha Thakur, Ramesh Mendola, Mahendra Hardia, Ms. Malini Gaur, Madhu Verma, Golu Shukla, Manoj Patel, Gaurav Randive, and Mr. Chintu Verma, Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary, Sanjay Shukla, Divisional Commissioner Deepak Singh, and Police Commissioner Rakesh Gupta, took an extensive review of ongoing road construction, flyover and bridge projects, the inter-state bus terminal, the redevelopment of government schools, the Indore Bypass Control Area, the Jal Praday Yojana under AMRUT, and the proposed Kanha-Kshipra river purification projects. The development of the 60 MW solar energy plant at Jalud, projects by the MP Industrial Development Corporation, and the Indore Metropolitan Development Authority’s proposed plans were also discussed in detail.

Dr. Yadav reviewed several key projects, including the upgrading of the Indore-Ujjain highway from 4 lanes to 6 lanes, MR-11, MR-12, and the Tejaji Nagar to Balwada road. He emphasized the importance of completing these projects within the set timeframes. Additionally, the construction of a two-lane road from the Indore Bypass to Gram Panod, Kampel Road, and the Chandra Gupta Maurya Statue to the Dewas-Ujjain Road, as well as the Western and Eastern bypass roads for Indore, were discussed.

The Indore-Manmad railway line, recently approved, will enhance connectivity between Malwa, Nimad, and the Gwalior region, forming a vital trade link between Mumbai, Indore, and Delhi. The Chief Minister also noted the potential for air cargo expansion in Indore and directed the preparation of a proposal for railway line extensions in the region.

In the next meeting, Dr. Yadav announced that special discussions would be held on traffic management.

Urban Development and Housing Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya stressed the importance of visible and effective results in the ongoing Kanha and Kshipra river purification projects and called for better city planning to integrate development initiatives. Water Resources Minister. Tulsiram Silawat emphasized the need for a four-lane road from Indore to Khudel and various development projects in Sanwer, including road construction. He also suggested transforming MY Hospital into a model hospital. MP Shankar Lalwani advocated for the construction of a four-lane road from Indore to Khudel, the development of an outer ring road, a logistics hub, and a new grain market. Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava discussed the budget needs for the western ring road and sought necessary support under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme
