Indore: President Droupadi Murmu commenced a significant two-day visit to Indore, showcasing her commitment to preserving India’s cultural heritage and supporting local artisans. At the iconic Mrignayani Emporium on MG Road, she interacted with Padma Shri award-winning craftsmen, praising their efforts in safeguarding traditional crafts. President Murmu purchased Chanderi and Maheshwari sarees, making a digital UPI payment of Rs. 23,800, symbolizing her endorsement of both India’s artisanal legacy and the digital economy.
The President lauded the artisans’ contributions, emphasizing the importance of preserving the country’s ancient traditions. During her visit, four Padma Shri honorees presented their handcrafted creations to her.
President Murmu arrived in Indore at 4:50 PM on Wednesday, where she was warmly received by Governor Mangubhai Patel, BJP State President VD Sharma, and other dignitaries at Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport. Following her 40-minute engagement at the emporium, her convoy traveled through MG Road, Palasia, and AB Road to Residency Kothi, where she will stay overnight. All official duties during her visit will be conducted from the Residency.
