Indore (Team Newsbuddy): A day ahead of the revered Jitiya Mahaparva, the Sakhi Bahinpa Maithilani Group, a women’s organization from the Maithil community, hosted a grand collective Jitiya festival celebration. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of Maithil women across the city.

The celebration commenced with a tribute to the great poet Vidyapati, as the women garlanded his photograph, setting a reverent tone for the occasion. This was followed by soulful renditions of Maithili folk songs dedicated to the Jitiya festival, which filled the atmosphere with traditional fervor.

As part of the festivities, each participant was presented with symbolic items like Chura (flattened rice), Marua flour, and other auspicious offerings distributed in traditional baskets, signifying blessings of good fortune. Later, an array of authentic Mithila delicacies, including Chura, curd, sweets, and other regional dishes, were served to the women, adding to the celebratory spirit.

Ritu Jha, Sharda Jha, Kavita Jha, and Sushma Jha, representatives of the Maithilani group, shared insights into the significance of the Jitiya Mahavrat, emphasizing that women undertake a strict waterless fast as an expression of devotion for the long and healthy life of their children. They further explained that this age-old tradition is believed to bestow longevity and well-being upon their offspring.

The event turned out to be a beautiful celebration of tradition, devotion, and community bonding, leaving an indelible mark on all the participants
