Indore: “A society that remains rooted in its culture and values always prospers. History shows that societies that abandoned their values and traditions ultimately ceased to exist. I am proud that the Bhojpuri community has kept its culture and values vibrant and alive,” said Madhya Pradesh’s Urban Development and Housing Minister, Kailash Vijayvargiya, while addressing the Chhath Meet and Greet event organized by the Bhojpuriya Welfare Society at Santosh Sabhagrah.
Sharing his memories of the Chhath festival, Vijayvargiya remarked, “During my six years of serving as the BJP General Secretary and overseeing responsibilities in Bengal, I saw how Chhath Puja transformed the region, making Bengal resemble Bihar. Wherever Biharis reside, they leave an impactful legacy.” He praised the Bhojpuri community’s dedication to preserving the spirit of Chhath, calling it a remarkable representation of India’s cultural richness.
Responding to demands from the Bhojpuri, Purvottar, and Maithil communities for train services from Indore to Darbhanga, Bhagalpur, and Ranchi, Vijayvargiya assured, “Submit a memorandum in my name, and I will personally take up this matter with the Railway Minister, who is a close associate.” Additionally, he promised action towards identifying government land for the Northeastern community’s cultural and social events.
The event featured captivating cultural performances by children, leaving the audience enthralled. Bhojpuriya Welfare Society President Bateshwar Nath Singh stated that the event included honoring senior community members, meritorious students, and dedicated office bearers and volunteers.
