2 min readIndore (Team Newsbuddy): . Nipaniya pond, which is the main reservoir of ward number 36-37, is losing its identity due to disrepair and neglect. Keeping in mind the needs of the residents of the area and to revive this reservoir, the Residents’ Federation of the ward submitted a memorandum to Water Resources Minister Tulsiram Silawat. Several important demands have been raised in the memorandum, including renovation of the pond, pollution prevention, Chhath Ghat construction, and approach road.
Demand for renovation and beautification of the pond
The memorandum demands that extensive work should be done to improve the current condition of Nipaniya pond. It should be converted into an aesthetic and useful site by constructing dams, pathways, and gardens around it. Residents say that this step will restore the cultural and environmental importance of the pond.
Construction of Chhath Ghat for Purvanchalis
A large number of Purvanchalis live in Pipaliya and Nipania areas, who are demanding a safe and well-organized place to offer Arghya to Lord Surya during Chhath Puja. In the memorandum, an appeal has been made to give priority to the construction of Chhath Ghat on the banks of the pond.
Strict action needed to prevent pollution
The residents have complained that contaminated water from the nearby hotels and marriage gardens is being released into the pond, affecting both its water level and quality. The Mahasangh has demanded immediate concrete steps to stop this pollution.
Emphasis on approach road and tree plantation too
The memorandum has stated that construction of approach road near ISKCON temple and Hotel Ramda is necessary to reach the pond. Along with this, an appeal has been made to review the tree plantation campaign held last year and plant new saplings in place of damaged saplings. The residents also demanded action against the officials responsible for poor maintenance.
Appeal to the administration for immediate action
Residents say that Nipaniya pond is the cultural and environmental heritage of the area. Its renovation will not only enhance the beauty of the area, but it will also be able to develop as a useful place for water conservation and the local community.
A copy of this memorandum has also been handed over to Urban Development Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, MP Shankar Lalwani, Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava, and local councilor Suresh Kurware. Residents hope that the administration will take their demands seriously and take positive steps as soon as possible.
