Top 16 pairs qualified for the final round of VK Aggarwal Trophy

Indore. The 20th Maharaja Yashwantrao Holkar National Bridge Competition started today at Yashwant Club on Tuesday. This is the second largest prize money bridge competition in the country. The winning team of this competition also gets a chance to play in international tournaments.
Organized under the joint aegis of Indore Contract Bridge Association, Yashwant Club and Holkar Bridge Trust and under the technical guidance of Indian Bridge Federation, this competition was inaugurated under the hospitality of Shashikala Agarwal, Prem Agarwal and Pankaj Agarwal. Dr. Vinod Naneria, Dr. Anil Vijayvargiya and Jitesh Agarwal were present on this occasion. The competition started with the matches of V.K. Agarwal Trophy, in which 38 pairs from all over the country are participating. On the first day, 3 matches of elimination round were held, in which 16 pairs qualified for the final round.
After the first three rounds, Delhi and Kolkata pair Monika Jaju and Sumit Mukherjee topped with 95 marks and qualified for the final round. Along with this, Meenu Duggal and Anindra Kumar Sarkar, Priya Balasubramaniam and Subhash Bhavnani, Asha Sharma and Abhijeet Chakraborty, Bindiya Kohli and TV Ramani, Uma Relan and Sunil Bhatia, Kamna Sharma and Piyush Kanti Baroi, Kiran Nadar and B. Satyanarayan Vasanti Shah and Bhaskar Sarkar, Dr. Nikita Kamal and Manish Bahuguna, Gopika Tandon and Arun Jain, Shailja Tahilian and Prasun Mukhopadhyay, Pooja Batra and Shambhu Nath Ghosh, Ritu Bagaria and Girish Bijnor, Kavita Ajmera and Debarta Majumdar and Uma V Jalapathi and P Sridhar showed excellent performance and qualified for the final round. The final round will start on Wednesday at 9:30 am.
Anshul Agarwal, Namrata Achar, Aditi Sahastra Mudde and Hemant Parkar, Vidya Patel, Pintu Sahu, Pallavi Modak and Dr. Anil from Indore also played well but could not qualify. A total prize money of Rs 3 lakh has been kept under this trophy. Also, the winning pair will be awarded the V.K. Aggarwal Trophy.
