Indore: The Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) has taken a giant leap towards modernizing governance by launching a transformative document digitalization project. Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava inaugurated the initiative today, describing it as a historic step in realizing the vision of a “Digital Indore.” The ambitious project will scan, digitize, and secure over 9 million critical documents, ensuring their preservation and accessibility for generations to come.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhargava said, “A corporation’s documents are its most valuable assets. Through this initiative, we are not only safeguarding these assets but also ushering in a new era of efficiency, transparency, and accessibility. Indore is proudly aligning itself with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Digital India and laying the groundwork for a smarter city that meets the challenges of the next 10–15 years.”
The mayor also announced that starting April 1, IMC will launch its own dedicated web portal and mobile application. This cutting-edge platform will enable citizens to access over 24 essential services online, including streetlight management, chamber geo-tagging, and CTPT data handling. “Indore has already set national benchmarks in cleanliness and greenery. Now, with ‘Digital Indore,’ we are taking a giant step forward in modernizing governance and ensuring smarter, faster, and more efficient services for our citizens,” he added.
Revolutionizing Records Management
IMC IT In-Charge Rajesh Udawat provided further details about the project, explaining that a robust web-based Document Management System (DMS) will be used to digitize and secure the records over the next year. The process includes multiple stages, such as error correction, quality checks, and creating searchable PDFs to enhance usability.
Udawat also highlighted parallel efforts to upgrade the network and infrastructure at IMC’s headquarters and zonal offices. “This initiative is a testament to IMC’s commitment to leveraging technology to deliver seamless and citizen-centric services,” he stated.
As Indore continues to lead the way in innovation, this initiative further cements the city’s position as a pioneer in adopting technology-driven solutions to improve urban life. With “Digital Indore” taking shape, citizens can look forward to a smarter, more connected, and efficient governance model.
