Triple Talaq on WhatsApp: Case registered against five including husband
2 min readBilaspur (Team Newsbuddy): A shocking incident has come to light from the judicial capital Bilaspur, where a man divorced his wife by sending three messages on WhatsApp. After this incident, the victim lodged a complaint with the police, on the basis of which the police have registered a case against five people including the husband.
The victim, who is a resident of Srikant Verma Marg, told in her complaint that she was married to Fahad Ansari, a resident of Idgah Chowk, on 15 December 2019 at Govindam Palace with Muslim customs. Fahad Ansari is the operator of Hashtech Hotel located at Idgah Chowk.
Allegation of harassment for dowry
Soon after marriage, the in-laws started harassing the victim demanding dowry. The victim’s parents first gave Rs 5 lakh to open a shop. Later, he gave Rs 2 lakh for a car and Rs 4 lakh to buy a BMW car. The victim alleges that the demands of her in-laws kept increasing, and when she refused to bring more money from her parents’ house, she was beaten up. Her mother-in-law and father-in-law even tried to burn her with tongs.
Divorce on WhatsApp
Fed up with domestic violence and dowry harassment, the victim lodged a complaint with the police. The victim said that on July 24, 2024, when she went to drop her sister in Dubai and returned, her husband did not let her enter the house. At that time, her husband said talaq three times and asked her to stay out of the house. After this, on October 16, November 17, 2024, and January 12, 2025, the accused husband sent a message on WhatsApp by writing “talaq” three times.
Police registered a case
On the basis of the victim’s complaint, the police have registered a case against the accused husband Fahad Ansari and four other members of his family. The victim, who is a beautician and make-up artist by profession, says that her in-laws also used to snatch away her earnings.
