New York (Team Newsbuddy): Indian mountaineer Bhavna Dehriya has created a new record by successfully climbing South America’s highest peak Aconcagua in Argentina. According to a press release, Dehriya, who raises her voice for women empowerment and gender equality rights, successfully climbed the 6,961 meter high peak Aconcagua . This achievement marks the fifth peak in Dehriya’s mission to conquer the ‘seven summits’, which includes climbing the highest mountains on each continent.

To date, she has successfully climbed the peak of Everest (Asia), Kilimanjaro (Africa), Kosciuszko (Australia) and Elbrus (Europe) – both its west and east peaks. The release said the expedition is “the culmination of a two-week arduous trek across the Andes and celebrates the 10th anniversary of India’s ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in January 2015.” Deharia is the brand ambassador of the campaign along with her daughter Siddhi Mishra.
The honour was conferred on her by India’s Ministry of Women and Child Development. Siddhi Mishra created history last year by becoming the youngest girl to reach the Everest base camp with her mother, the release said. “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Abhiyaan has been a guiding light in my journey. It reminds us that every girl should get a chance to excel, just like I got in Aconcagua,” Deharia said in the release.
