Indore (Team Newsbuddy): Dr. Davish Jain, Chairman of the Soybean Processors Association of India (SOPA), has welcomed the Union Budget 2025-26, describing it as a transformative roadmap for India’s agricultural sector, with a strong emphasis on enhancing oil seed productivity and achieving self-sufficiency in edible oils.
Dr. Jain hailed the ₹10,000 crore allocation for the National Mission on Edible Oils, calling it a milestone initiative that will strengthen domestic oil seed production, reduce import dependence, and drive India’s goal of becoming Aatmanirbhar in edible oils.
He stressed the urgent need for a strategic cap on edible oil imports, cautioning that unregulated imports could disrupt domestic production and discourage farmers. He advocated for a balanced trade policy that safeguards farmers’ interests while ensuring price stability for consumers.
Welcoming the release of 109 high-yielding and climate-resilient seed varieties, Dr. Jain emphasized that this initiative will significantly enhance oilseed and overall agricultural productivity, equipping farmers with better crop resilience and boosting yields.
He also lauded the Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana, being implemented in 100 low-productivity districts, as a pioneering step to uplift rural economies by integrating modern farming techniques and sustainable practices. He further commended the government’s special scheme to boost pulse seed productivity and the increase in the Kisan Credit Card limit to ₹5 lakh, which will provide financial security and growth opportunities for farmers.
Dr. Jain said that effective implementation of these initiatives will propel India toward agricultural self-reliance, empower farmers, and establish India as a global leader in oilseeds and edible oil production.
