Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Urban Development Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, MP Shankar Lalwani emphasized that these e-buses will offer modern facilities while significantly reducing pollution. He noted that the initiative would curb Indore’s carbon footprint while generating carbon credits, further strengthening the city’s position in environmental sustainability.
Indore made history in 2020 when its Municipal Corporation became India’s first civic body to earn revenue by selling carbon credits, generating ₹50 lakh by trading credits for 1.7 lakh tonnes of CO₂ reductions through eco-friendly projects.
With the addition of 150 electric buses, Indore is set to expand its green initiatives, lower emissions, improve air quality, and further monetize its carbon savings. This move cements Indore’s standing as a national leader in sustainable urban development, setting an example for cities across India.
