Raipur /Chhattisgarh/. (Team Newsbuddy). Former Indian all-rounder Rishi Dhawan once again told that he has definitely retired from cricket, but his attachment and passion for cricket is still the same. Currently, he is a part of Chhattisgarh Warriors in the Legend 90 League going on at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium and is consistently performing well.
This tournament is special for Rishi Dhawan in many ways. Rishi, who recently became the father of a lovely daughter, is also performing well in this new chapter of his cricket career with this new responsibility.
Dream debut
In his very first match, Dhawan, who came out to open against Dubai Giants, played an explosive innings of 50 runs in 24 balls. After this, he showed his excellence in bowling as well and took three wickets and gave his team a spectacular victory of 63 runs. Dhawan did not stop here and in the very next match, he made a record partnership with Martin Guptill against Big Boys Unnikari. In this match, Chhattisgarh Warriors scored a huge score of 240 runs without losing any wicket, in which Guptill scored an unbeaten 160 runs in 49 balls and Dhawan played a brilliant innings of 76 runs in 42 balls. On the basis of which Warriors registered a big win by 89 runs.
Cricket is everything
Sharing his experience about the league, Rishi said, “The experience of Legend 90 is very wonderful. The atmosphere of the ground, the pitch and the facilities are very good. Apart from this, being able to contribute to the team’s victory in the very first match makes it more special.” He further said, “Playing cricket after retirement is a different experience. You stay fit and are always connected to the game. No matter how much time passes, cricket never leaves you and if your bat supports you like this, then it becomes even more wonderful.”
The format of Legend 90 is different
Talking about the unique 90-ball format of the league, Dhawan said, “Its format is very interesting. In this, one has to be mentally alert due to additional batting powerplay and bowling rules. The match progresses so fast that it becomes difficult to guess how many runs will be enough to win, but as the tournament progresses, we are becoming more mature for every match.”
Great support of home crowd
Talking about the enthusiasm of the fans, Rishi said, “Being the home team, we are also getting a lot of love from the fans. When they come in large numbers and cheer you, the experience of the game becomes even more fun.”
With three consecutive wins, Chhattisgarh Warriors are currently at the top of the points table and look like the strongest contenders for the trophy. Now it will be interesting to see if their winning streak continues like this or if any other team will be able to stop them.
