Mechanical Engineering Department wins inter- branch cricket competition

SGSIT’s annual sports competition ‘Varchasva 2024-25 held

Jai Maheshwari declared best batsman, Koshish Khandare bags best bowler award

Indore (Team Newsbuddy): Inter-branch cricket competition was organized at SGSIT Indore under SGSIT’s annual sports competition “Varchasva” 2024-25. In the thrilling final match of this competition, the team of Mechanical Engineering Department (MED) defeated the team of Civil Engineering Department by 12 runs.

After winning the toss, the team of Mechanical Department batted first and gave a huge target of 192 runs by losing 4 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. From the side of Mechanical Department, Sameer Patel contributed 82 runs in 22 balls and Jai Maheshwari contributed 59 runs in 21 balls. In reply, the team of Civil Engineering Department could make only 180 runs by losing 4 wickets in the prescribed 20 overs. Ashish Damor played a courageous innings of 71 runs from the side of Civil Engineering Department. Koshish Khandare of Mechanical Engineering Department took 2 wickets.

The award for the best batsman of the competition was won by Jai Maheshwari and the award for the best bowler was won by Koshish Khandare. The Man of the Match award of the final match was won by Sameer Patel of Mechanical Engineering Department. The award for the best fielder was won by Shri Krishna Pratap Verma. The best commentator of the competition Shreyans Tiwari was also honored.

The prize distribution was done under the chief hospitality of the Institute’s Director Prof. Nitesh Purohit and special hospitality of the Institute’s Alumni Association President Engr. D.L. Goyal and the Institute’s Head of Department of Civil Engineering Prof. S.M. Narulkar. The program was presided over by the Head of Department of Mechanical Engineering Prof. Sudhir Tiwari.

Chief guest Institute’s Director Prof. Nitesh Purohit in his speech praised the enthusiasm of the players and spectators in a very thrilling match. He congratulated the winning team and advised the runner-up team to come to the field next time after making good preparations. He advised all the students present to remain associated with a sport for physical fitness so that they can keep themselves physically and mentally healthy.

In the beginning, the guests were welcomed by Prof. H.K. Mahiar, Prof. Shekhar Sharma, Prof. B.S. More, Prof. Manoj Chaukse, Prof. R.S. Mandloi, Prof. Nitish Gupta, Prof. Ravi Jatola and Mr. Arun Kuliha.

The program was conducted by Anushka Jariya, Secretary of Student Sports Committee, Dr. Manish Jaiswal gave the welcome speech and brief information about the competition. Sports Committee member Prof. Girish Soni expressed gratitude.
