Indore: To facilitate smooth and seamless traffic on its busiest road, India’s cleanest city Indore has launched an Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS)-enabled Green Corridor along the Agra-Bombay (AB) Road, aiming to enhance traffic flow, reduce congestion, and promote environmental sustainability. This initiative integrates advanced technologies such as adaptive traffic control systems, surveillance cameras, public address systems, and automated e-challan processing for traffic violations, effectively monitoring and managing infractions like red-light violations, over-speeding, and wrong-way driving.
In the initial phase, 14 major intersections, including Scheme No. 78, Satya Sai Square, Industry House Square, Palasia Square, Geeta Bhawan Square, Navlakha Square, MR 9 Square, Rasoma Square, Shivaji Vatika Square, LIG Square, Indira Pratima Square, Lantern Square, and Hukumchand Ghantaghar Square, have been equipped with ITMS infrastructure. The second phase will extend these advancements to an additional 35 intersections, ensuring comprehensive citywide coverage.
All ITMS-equipped intersections are connected to the Integrated Control and Command Center (ICCC), facilitating real-time monitoring and dynamic adjustments to signal timings based on traffic density. This system reduces stop-and-go driving patterns, curtailing fuel consumption and vehicular emissions, leading to cleaner air and a healthier urban environment. Enhanced traffic efficiency also translates to significant time savings for commuters and reduced operational costs for transportation services.
Indore’s commitment to smart city solutions underscores its dedication to fostering innovative and sustainable urban planning, setting a benchmark for other cities to emulate.
