Raipur(Team Newsbuddy): Bhimsen Markam, President of All India Revolutionary Kisan Sabha (A I K K S), said that today in the country, one farmer is committing suicide every hour, Chhattisgarh is not untouched by it, earlier moneylenders, usurers used to rob the farmers, now banks and usurers are robbing the farmers and the government is watching as a spectator. The farmers’ agitation has been going on for a year at Khanauri border and Singhu border, Jagjit Singh Dalewal has been on a hunger strike for 110 days but the government does not care. Thousands of farmers have been martyred in this entire farmer movement so far.
Just three days ago, on the night of March 10, farmer Puran Nishad, father Sudharam Nishad, age 55, of village Singhanpur, tehsil Jhalap, district Mahasamund (Chhattisgarh) committed suicide by hanging himself from a neem tree in his field. Panchnama and last rites were performed on March 11. According to the information received from the victim’s family, the deceased farmer has about three acres of his own agricultural land and cultivates about two acres on land and sowed paddy this year as Rabi crop.
He has a permanent electricity connection in his name for irrigation. Due to the motor pump getting stuck in the old bore, he used to irrigate by installing another motor pump in it. For this type of farming, the deceased farmer has a KCC loan of about one lakh fifty five thousand rupees in the Gramin Bank branch Jhalap. Apart from this, he has said that he has a moneylender loan of about two lakh rupees. Due to the problem of low voltage of electricity, the paddy crop was drying up due to incomplete irrigation of the fields, due to which the farmer was very upset. Farmer Puran Nishad was mentally very upset due to the worry of debt and the crop getting spoiled due to low voltage. Not only Puran Nishad but most of the farmers of the state are trapped in the web of debt and the crop is getting ruined due to the problem of low voltage. While there is surplus electricity in Chhattisgarh and electricity is being sold to other states, low voltage power cuts are continuing in the state due to which farmers and the general public are troubled, the anti-people policies of the government and their electricity department are responsible for this situation, All India Revolutionary Kisan Sabha President Bhimsen Markam has demanded that all types of debt of the affected farmers should be waived, a case should be registered against the responsible departmental officials and considering it as institutional murder, the victim’s family should be given relief and justice.
