Brijmohan demands new trains from Raipur to Jabalpur, Indore, Hyderabad , Jaipur

MP Agarwal raised questions in Parliament regarding railway projects in Chhattisgarh

Raipur (Team Newsbuddy). Work planning and construction worth Rs 37,018 crore is in process on 25 projects of 2,731 km length of railways in Chhattisgarh, out of which 882 km work has been completed. This information was given by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav in the Lok Sabha in response to a question asked by Raipur MP Brijmohan Agarwal regarding the development works of railways in Chhattisgarh.

Brijmohan Agarwal sought detailed information from the Railway Minister on the railway projects approved in Chhattisgarh in the last five years, the status of their implementation, the reasons for pending projects and the possibilities of new trains.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the commissioning of new rail tracks has increased 15 times during 2014-24 as compared to 2009-14. In the year 2009-14, only 32 km of rail line was laid, while in 2014-24 999 km of rail line was commissioned. Railway budget allocation has also increased from Rs 311 crore per year in 2009-14 to Rs 6922 crore in 2024-25, showing a 22-fold increase.

Reasons and solutions for pending projects:

On the question of MP Brijmohan Agarwal, the minister informed that the progress of railway projects depends on many obstacles like land acquisition, forest clearances, state government cost sharing, transfer of public utilities, legal and climatic conditions. Steps have been taken by the Railway Ministry to prioritize projects, increase budget allocation, intensify monitoring and coordinate with state governments to accelerate the pace of railway development. Demand for new trains and reply: MP Agrawal has demanded new trains from Raipur to Jabalpur, Indore, Hyderabad and Jaipur. On which the Railway Minister said that new trains are operated on the basis of passenger demand, operational feasibility and network needs. He informed that in the last five years, 08 new trains were started from Chhattisgarh and 08 services were expanded. New rail services are constantly reviewed by the Railways in view of passenger requirements and operational possibilities. Brijmohan Agrawal said on this, “It is our priority to provide better rail facilities to the people of Chhattisgarh. I am constantly monitoring every project related to the development of the state and will keep requesting the central government for necessary facilities. The people of Chhattisgarh will soon get the benefit of more rail services.”
