3-day Padmashri N. N. Jain National Moot Court Competition kicks off

Indore(Team Newsbuddy) : The influence of artificial intelligence (AI) is growing across all sectors, including the judiciary. While there is speculation that AI could take on the role of judges in the future, this could prove to be dangerous. This was stated by Madhya Pradesh High Court Judge Justice V. K. Shukla on Wednesday during the inauguration of the Dr. N. N. Jain National Moot Court Competition at the Department of Law, Prestige Institute of Management and Research. Justice Shukla highlighted that the Prestige Law Department has organized this competition on a highly relevant topic. Citing an example, he said, “If an ambulance crosses a red signal, a traffic police officer may allow it, but AI might issue a fine. The judicial use of AI requires serious consideration.”
Dr. V. K. Ahuja, Director of the Indian Law Institute, New Delhi, emphasized that moot courts are crucial for law students, enhancing their reasoning skills, courtroom etiquette, and confidence. Himanshu Jain, Director of Prestige Education Foundation, noted that using sensitive data by machines is both a challenge and a necessity today. He advised aspiring lawyers to excel not only in arguments but also in reflective thinking.
Dr. Nishant Joshi, Director of the Law Department, delivered the welcome address, outlining the journey of the competition. He urged participants to adopt three principles: “Read extensively, be kind to yourself, and practice humility.” He proudly stated that the Prestige Law Department is the first institute in the country to organize a moot court competition on AI. Anoop Kumar Tripathi, Principal Registrar of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, also shared his insights on the occasion.
