2 min read

Indore(Team Newsbuddy): In a swift and decisive move to protect the peace and integrity of Saikripa Colony, Ward 37 Corporator Sangeeta Mahesh Joshi intervened to stop the construction of an illegal hostel-type building following strong objections from residents. The bold action underscores growing public concerns over the unchecked rise of unauthorized hostels and multi-story rental buildings in residential areas of the city.
The issue came to light on May 2, during the Bhoomi poojan ceremony for the installation of decorative lights at Mandir Vatika. Residents of Saikripa Colony handed over a written complaint to corporator Joshi, highlighting the construction of unauthorized structures that were altering the character of their peaceful neighborhood and creating daily disturbances.
Without delay, Corporator Joshi personally inspected the construction site and ordered an immediate halt to the ongoing work. She summoned the plot owner to the Municipal Corporation with the necessary documents and formally wrote to the Municipal Commissioner, demanding strict action against the illegal development.
“Preserving the environment and peace of our colonies is non-negotiable,” said Joshi. “Illegal constructions that violate zoning norms and public interest will not be tolerated. We will take this matter to the highest level, including a meeting with the Commissioner, to ensure strict enforcement.”
Residents have expressed growing frustration over the rise of hostel-like buildings being rented out even on an hourly basis. These developments not only disrupt community life but also raise serious safety and regulatory concerns.
Supporting the call for action, K. K. Jha, patron of the Ward 36-37 Residents’ Federation, and President Rajesh Tomar have urged the administration and Municipal Corporation to take immediate action against such structures in areas like Nipania, Pipliyakumar, Mahalaxmi Nagar, Tulsi Nagar, and Saikripa Colony. They emphasized that a strong crackdown is essential in the interest of public welfare and to prevent further deterioration of the residential character of these neighborhoods.
Residents remain hopeful that the firm stance taken by corporator Joshi will set a precedent and lead to a broader campaign against unauthorized constructions across the city.
