: As part of the Jal Ganga Samvardhan Campaign, a grand human chain was organized in Indore today. Under the leadership of Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav, thousands of citizens joined hands from Ranjit Hanuman Temple to Maharana Pratap Statue to spread the message of water conservation and augmentation. On this occasion, the Jal Ganga Rath was also flagged off, which will visit households to promote water conservation.
Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav stated that after achieving the top rank in cleanliness, Indore has now resolved to become number one in water conservation and augmentation. He emphasized that under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, efforts are being made to take the Jal Ganga Samvardhan Campaign to every household.
Making an appeal, the Mayor said, “Every household should harvest rainwater, practice ‘Catch the Rain,’ recharge groundwater, and conserve water to secure our future.” He explained that an inverted umbrella symbolizes water conservation by collecting water, while a regular umbrella represents protection from water. The campaign will run from March 30 to June 30.
The event saw participation from MIC member Abhishek Sharma, corporators Kanchan Gidwani, Harpreet Luthra, Rupali Pendharkar, Parag Kaushal, Kamal Vaghela, Yogesh Gendar, municipal corporation officials, and a large number of local residents.
The Mayor highlighted that Indore has been consistently working on water conservation for the past three years. With public support, over 1.25 lakh rainwater harvesters have been installed, 156 wells, 28 stepwells, and 16 ponds have been deepened, and all channels have been cleaned. He stressed that the goal of water conservation cannot be achieved without public cooperation and participation.
Mayor Bhargav urged all citizens to “stand united for water, pledge for water conservation, and secure our future.”
