Indore(Team Newsbuddy: In a transformative step toward blending India’s ancient wisdom with modern academia, Prestige Institute of Management and Research (PIMR), Indore, hosted a Faculty Development Program (FDP) themed “Integrating Indian Knowledge Wisdom with Higher Education System.” Organized under the Centre for Indian Knowledge System (IKS), an initiative of the Institute’s Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), the event underscored PIMR’s commitment to culturally rooted, value-driven education.
Dr. S.S. Bhakar, Group Director, in his address, highlighted PIMR’s pioneering role in reviving Indian Knowledge Systems. “Through our curriculum, workshops, and thematic events, we are fostering an education model that marries India’s rich heritage with contemporary learning,” he said, emphasizing the institute’s consistent efforts to promote holistic, value-based education.
Dr. Deepak Jaroliya, Director of IQAC, outlined the FDP’s mission to bridge the gap between modern education and India’s timeless wisdom. “By reconnecting academia with the principles of Indian civilization, we aim to address the shortcomings of Western-centric educational frameworks and create a more meaningful learning experience,” he remarked.
Dr. Harsh Purohit, Dean, FMS-WISDOM and Officiating Dean, Jamnalal Bajaj School of Legal Studies, Banasthali Vidyapith, Rajasthan, shared innovative models for embedding IKS principles into management disciplines like Finance, Marketing, and Human Resources. He emphasized, “Dharma-based decision-making, community-focused entrepreneurship, and ethical wealth creation are vital for reshaping mainstream management education.”
Drawing from India’s Gurukul traditions, Dr. Ankur Joshi, Visiting Faculty at Vrije University, Netherlands, stressed the need to prioritize character development alongside skill-building. “Indian Knowledge Systems offer a holistic approach that modern education often overlooks. Reviving this focus is critical for nurturing ethical, well-rounded leaders,” he said.
The program attracted faculty from leading management institutes nationwide, who participated in interactive workshops, experiential exercises, and reflective discussions. These sessions explored practical applications of IKS, such as using cultural storytelling in Marketing, sustainable investment principles in Finance, and value-centric leadership in Human Resources. The event was coordinated by Dr. Minal Uprety and Dr. Jaya Jaisinghani.
