Awareness camp on dental health giving top priority to the safety of players
Rajnandgaon (Team Newsbuddy): Keeping in mind the safety and overall health of the players, an important step was taken by Chhattisgarh Hockey and District Hockey Association Rajnandgaon. During hockey games, players are often at risk of getting injured in the face and teeth. Keeping this in mind, a team of specialist doctors from the dental department of AIIMS Raipur conducted free dental examination of the players in a special camp organized at the International Hockey Stadium in Rajnandgaon. Hundreds of players from Rajnandgaon as well as the surrounding districts participated in this camp. In the testing camp, the players were given detailed guidance on important topics like dental safety, use of mouthguards, regular checkups and daily hygiene.

Chhattisgarh Hockey President Firoz Ansari said, “The aim of this camp was not only to check the current dental condition of the players, but also to make them aware of the prevention of possible problems in the future. Players’ safety is our top priority.”

AIIMS Raipur senior doctor Dr. Ramzia Rahim said that a historic example of Chhattisgarh Hockey President Firoz Ansari’s awareness and sensitivity towards sports and players was seen. Appreciating this initiative of Chhattisgarh Hockey, he said, “This awareness towards the health of the players is highly commendable and it reflects the social and moral responsibility of the Hockey Association.”
Dr. Mughalindra Ravi and Dr. Palakjit Kaur, who were present at the dental checkup, informed the players about the first aid and its immediate use in case of dental injuries during the game. The team of doctors emphasized on the regular use of dental safety equipment, especially mouthguards.
A meaningful step towards safety: Bhushan Sao
Member and senior hockey coach of District Hockey Association Rajnandgaon, Bhushan Saw said, “This initiative is not only a meaningful step towards physical safety, but also develops a sense of responsibility and discipline towards health among the players.”

International hockey player and NIS coach Mrinal Chaubey called this event important and historic. He said that this camp reflects the concern and dedication of the Hockey Association towards the players. This makes it clear that the District Hockey Association Rajnandgaon and Chhattisgarh Hockey Association are fully alert and sensitive not only on the field but also outside the field for the excellent performance of the players.
The players also praised this initiative and resolved to include dental health in their daily routine.
On this occasion, Khelo India hockey coach Shakeel Ahmed, Custom Pune’s national hockey player Dipesh Chaubey, Dilip Rawat, Kishore Dhiwar, Mukesh Jaiswal and other officials of the Hockey Association, trainers, and many young players were present. Everyone described this health test as very useful and inspiring.
