CPI(M) stage protest across state and also demanding ban on forest cutting in Hasdeo Aranya

Raipur (Team Newsbuddy) . On the national call of CPI(M), on the issues of removal of 65 lakh people from the voter list in Bihar in the name of special voter revision, a meeting was held by the party and public organizations by demonstrating at Ambedkar Chowk in the capital today. On this occasion, a large number of members of CPI(M) and various public organizations, including enlightened citizens were present. Deletion of names of 65 lakh voters in Bihar, ban on ongoing attacks on minorities in the state, withdrawal of cases registered against nuns on false charges in Durg and withdrawal of cases against those who misbehaved with them, inhuman harassment of Bengali speaking people in the name of Bangladeshis, withdrawal of the decision to put Chhattisgarh’s environment in danger by approving the Kent project to Adani’s indiscriminate cutting of Hasdeo forests, increase in electricity rates by the state government and reduction of half electricity bill from 400 units to 100 units. State secretariat member of Communist Party of India (Marxist) addressing the protesters. Dharmaraj Mohapatra said that the game going on in Bihar under the guise of SIR is the biggest criminal act in the democratic history of India. Election Commission, being a puppet of Modi government, is not only taking away the voting rights of 65 lakh people of Bihar, but a large number of fake voters have been included in the voter list prepared by it. This is a direct ploy to ensure victory for BJP and to steal votes. In the name of revision, Election Commission is deleting the names of real voters and adding fake voters. This is a dark chapter of Indian democracy and the struggle against it will be intensified. He strongly opposed the ongoing attacks on minority communities across the country and said that the recent illegal arrest of Nano in Durg and the ongoing atrocities on Bengali speaking people in the name of Bangladeshis prove that the BJP government believes in establishing Jungle Raj. He strongly opposed giving permission to Adani to cut down forests again by approving Kent project in Hasdeo Aranya area and said that there is a widespread protest going on to save the natural resources of the state from loot. Mahapatra termed the decision to increase electricity rates as anti-people and said that by reducing the Half Electricity Bill Scheme from 400 to 100 units, an additional burden of Rs 400 to Rs 700 per month is going to increase on the common man of the state.

During the demonstration, various issues were raised including curbing rising inflation, opposing privatization of IDBI Bank, withdrawing the proposal of 100% FDI in the insurance industry, opposing the ongoing privatization of the financial and public sectors. Today’s demonstration and meeting was conducted by CPI (M) District Secretary Comrade Rajesh Awasthi. CPI (M) leaders MK Nandi, Naveen Gupta, Sajid Raza, journalist Shakeel Sajid, women leader Shalini Toppo, Maruti Dongre, Surendra Sharma, Rajesh Parate, Sandeep Soni, Gajendra Patel and leaders of various public organizations participated in this demonstration. The proceedings of the meeting ended with tremendous sloganeering. This demonstration was organized by CPI (M) across the state. CPI(M) has announced to launch a massive public campaign on this issue in the coming days.
