Chhattisgarh beat Madhya Pradesh in quarter-finals

Rajnandgaon (Team Newsbuddy): Chhattisgarh hockey team created history by winning two important matches against Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka in the 15th Hockey India Junior Women’s National Championship held from 1 to 12 August in Kakinada, a coastal district of Andhra Pradesh.

Chhattisgarh Hockey President Firoz Ansari said that in the quarter-final match of this prestigious tournament of the country’s biggest junior category, Chhattisgarh girls showed tremendous game and defeated last year’s runner-up Madhya Pradesh in a thrilling and tough match and entered the semi-finals. The team displayed excellent coordination, speed and strategy throughout the match.

The match played against Madhya Pradesh ended in a 1-1 draw till the stipulated time.

Chhattisgarh made a great start and took the lead in the second minute of the match itself thanks to the field goal of forward Yashoda. After this, Madhya Pradesh equalized the score in the 15th minute of the match with a goal by Huda Khan. The match ended in a draw till the stipulated time. In the decisive shootout, Chhattisgarh won 2-1 due to the excellent saves of goalkeeper Jyoti Rani and the accurate finishing of the strikers. Yashoda scored 1 goal and Rukhmani scored 2 goals in this entire match. Chetna Rani Das was awarded the Player of the Match award for her excellent performance.

Earlier, in the pool match, the Chhattisgarh team defeated Karnataka 6-1. After hard work in the training camp organized at the International Hockey Stadium in Rajnandgaon, the team left for the National Championship and the performance so far has fully lived up to the expectations.

Chhattisgarh Hockey President Firoz Ansari praised the performance of the players and expressed confidence that the daughters will bring glory to the state by performing well in the semi-final match against Haryana. This historic achievement has filled the hockey lovers of the state with pride and enthusiasm.

Chhattisgarh Hockey General Secretary Manish Srivastava said that even before this, the daughters of Chhattisgarh were in the headlines by defeating Odisha in the quarter-finals of the national competition held in Rourkela in 2023. Former captain of the Indian hockey team Arjun Awardee Ms. Asunta Lakra and Chief Selector Mr. Prabal Pratap Pandey reached the ground and congratulated the players on the excellent performance of the team.

The players playing for Chhattisgarh in the National Championship are – Jyoti Rani, Bhumika Dhankar, Meenakshi Umare, Moulisha Verma, Yashoda, Rukhmani, Neha Kumari, Damini Khusro, Madhu Sidar, Parmeshwari Sodhi, Sheetal Yadav, Chetna Rani Das, Aanchal, Keshrani Sahu, Manisha Patel, Dolly Nishad, Neha Dhurve and Shruti Pandey. The team’s coach is Anish Ahmed and the team’s manager is Sanjana Sahu.
