Indore’s GDP to double in 5 years, ambitious plans unveiled

Indore (Team Newsbuddy): City is taking a big step towards doubling its GDP in the coming five years. A coordinated strategy has been prepared with all departments and experts. Indore, the economic capital of Madhya Pradesh, is going to touch new heights of development in the coming five years. An ambitious target of doubling the city’s GDP has been set. A high-level meeting was held in this direction, in which all major departments, experts and stakeholders participated.

Emphasis on pharma, medical tourism

MP Shankar Lalwani said that Indore will play an important role in fulfilling the dreams of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Developed India” and Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav’s “Progressive Madhya Pradesh”. He said that the pharma industry and medical tourism will be specially encouraged. Medical facilities and hospitals will be expanded to make Indore an international level health center.

Promotion of automobiles, IT , startups

During the presentation, MP Lalwani said that Indore will be made a manufacturing hub by promoting the automobile and electric vehicle sector with green energy. By strengthening the IT and startup ecosystem, youth will be connected to innovation and research based education. He said that there is a plan to get global recognition for food processing and salty industry as well.

Collector’s statement

Collector Ashish Singh said that this campaign is very important for the city and will be successful only with the mutual coordination of all the departments. He emphasized on making traditional businesses a global brand and strengthening infrastructure and transportation. Indore will be connected to national and international markets by strengthening rail, road and air connectivity.

Suggestions of economists

Dr. Jayantilal Bhandari said that Indore can become the first city in the country to double its GDP in five years. He suggested that priority should be given to export-oriented industries, high value-added sectors and foreign investment. Also, there is a need for effective implementation of the new education policy and training the youth according to the needs of the industry.

Shared resolve and forward direction

It was unanimously decided in the meeting that a campaign will be launched towards making Indore the country’s “economic growth engine”. For this, a roadmap will be prepared to focus on priority sectors, new technology, education, connectivity, industrial expansion and attracting global investors.

Officials, experts present during meeting

Collector Ashish Singh, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Shivam Verma, MPIDC Executive Director Himanshu Prajapati, Indore Development Authority CEO R.P. Ahirwar, senior officials of many departments including Railways, National Highway Authority, Electricity Department were present in the meeting. Famous economists Dr. Jayantilal Bhandari and Dr. Anil Bhandari also participated.
