“State’s universities turning into hub of anarchy, violence”

Congress spokesperson Amit Chaurasia flays BJP’s education policy

Indore (Team Newsbuddy): State Congress spokesperson Amit Chaurasia has expressed strong anger over the incidents of assault and inhuman ragging of junior students in the IET Hostel of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV). He said that prima facie this case appears to be of ragging, but on looking deeply it seems to be not just ragging but a part of the battle for political supremacy within the university campus.

The shadow of the BJP’s genetic organization Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) can be clearly seen in this entire incident. Direct evidence of this is not coming out yet, but in Khandwa Road Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya campus, students are saying in hushed tones that this is a battle for political supremacy behind which there is protection of leaders associated with the Vidyarthi Parishad. In the past also, similar violent and inhuman incidents have been carried out by students associated with ABVP, to which the government and the university administration always turned a blind eye.

Mr Chaurasia said that in IET hostel, third and fourth year students beat up juniors and flushed a student’s face by putting him in the commode – this is not just ragging but a part of the strategy of BJP-supported student organizations to spread hooliganism and terror. BJP and ABVP together are making the university campus their political laboratory and have completely destroyed the environment of studies. The victim students are in deep shock and fear due to this entire incident. IET director Pratyosh Bansal has refused to accept this incident as ragging and calling it a case of misbehavior, and is talking about expelling the culprits from the hostel. Political pressure is clearly visible in his statement too.

He said that this is not the first incident –

*In Bhopal’s Barkatullah University, ABVP activists had beaten up students by bullying them in the hostels.

*In Jabalpur University, ABVP had attacked teachers and students in the name of agitation.

*In Vikram University of Ujjain also, students associated with ABVP had carried out incidents of violent clashes in the campus.

Every time, the BJP government has suppressed these incidents by giving protection, which has further increased their courage. The state Congress spokesperson said that in the past also such incidents have happened in the hostel and campus of Devi Ahilya University, in which instead of taking strict action against the guilty students, they were just suspended and the matter was closed. Suspending the guilty students in the said incident is not enough by the university, a criminal case should also be registered against the guilty students.

Such incidents are a direct proof of the failed education policy of the BJP government. If the government is really honest and there is no interference and interference of its parent organization Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad in this, then it should take strict action against the culprits, stop the increasing hooliganism and make the university campus a safe center of study and research and not a hub of politics.
