Indore (Team Newsbuddy): Notorious gangster Salman Lala, wanted in 32 criminal cases including charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and attempt to murder, met a tragic end on Sunday when he drowned in a pond while attempting to flee the Indore Crime Branch in Sehore, Madhya Pradesh.
Lala, a history-sheeter with a Rs. 60,000 bounty, was intercepted by the Crime Branch on the Indore-Bhopal road while returning from Sagar, where he had gone to pick up his brother, Siddu alias Shadab, recently released on bail from Sagar jail. In a desperate bid to escape, Lala leapt into a nearby pond, misjudged its depth, and drowned. Police personnel attempted a rescue but could not save him.
During the operation, Lala’s brother Shadab and three associates were arrested. The group, found with pistols and live cartridges, allegedly tried to attack the Crime Branch team, prompting swift action. The suspects are now in custody, with investigations ongoing to uncover their links to other crimes.
Lala’s extensive criminal record spanned Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, with his gang notorious for high-profile cases involving murder, extortion, and assault. His status as a prime target had made him a focal point for law enforcement.
Investigation and Impact: The incident has sent ripples through Indore’s criminal underworld, spurring police to intensify efforts to dismantle Lala’s network. Authorities have recovered his body, and a post-mortem is being conducted to confirm the cause of death. The Indore Crime Branch is also probing whether Lala’s associates played any role in the events leading to his demise.
This development marks a significant milestone in the Indore police’s crackdown on organized crime. Further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
