RATS ON RAMPAGE: Two newborn babies hands bitten

M Y Hospital staff put on alert, incident took place in NICU ward

Indore (Team Newsbuddy). Rats bit the hands of two newborns in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) of Indore’s MY Hospital. Both were shifted to NICU immediately after birth two-three days ago. On Sunday, when a newborn was bitten by a rat, the doctors started treating him. After the second incident on Monday, the staff informed the seniors. Actually, the entire hospital is full of rats. It is said that a big rat has been active in the NICU for many days. The staff itself gets scared to see it. After these two incidents, the MYH management has made preparations to get pest control done on a large scale. Also, work is going on to stop the movement of rats in the NICU.

Senior doctors reach NICU
The staff immediately informed the concerned doctors. Meanwhile, senior doctors reached the unit and examined the children. He immediately informed HOD Dr. Brajesh Lahoti about the incident on phone. Actually Dr. Lahoti is on leave right now. The doctors informed him about both the children. After this Dr. Lahoti informed Superintendent Dr. Ashok Yadav.

Staff asked to be cautious

Dr. Lahoti confirmed the incident and said that there is a lot of rats in and around the hospital. Both the newborns are undergoing treatment. Special care is being taken. Staff has been asked to be cautious. Also, arrangements are being made to stop the movement of rats in the unit.

On the other hand, Dr. Ashok Yadav (Superintendent) is currently in Bhopal. He told that the relatives of the patient bring food items to the ward. Due to this the number of rats is increasing. Pest control was done in the hospital five years ago. After this, the number of rats has increased rapidly again. The special thing is that the family members have not been informed yet so that they do not panic. Special care is being taken of all the newborns.
