Indore: Hailed as India’s cleanest city and a global beacon of sustainable urban practices, Indore has once again captured international acclaim. A distinguished delegation from four Latin American countries—Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, and Guatemala—arrived in the city to unravel the secrets behind its revolutionary waste management model, setting a new benchmark for cleanliness and innovation.
On September 2, 2025, Indore Municipal Corporation Commissioner Shivam Verma welcomed the delegation at Residency Kothi for a courteous exchange. Joined by Additional Commissioner Rohit Sisonia and other senior officials, Verma shared an in-depth account of Indore’s remarkable cleanliness journey. He highlighted the city’s robust systems for door-to-door waste collection, meticulous segregation, advanced recycling, and value-added waste processing that have redefined urban sanitation.
The delegation toured the state-of-the-art Gobardhan Bio-CNG Plant and the trenching ground, where Indore transforms municipal waste into methane gas to produce eco-friendly CNG. Impressed by the city’s innovative technologies and unwavering commitment to sustainable development, the visitors praised Indore’s trailblazing approach to waste-to-energy solutions.
“In a world grappling with waste management challenges, Indore’s model shines as a global inspiration,” the Latin American representatives declared. “This is a blueprint we aspire to adapt in our countries to drive sustainable progress.”
This visit reaffirms Indore’s stature as a global leader in cleanliness and sustainability, solidifying its legacy as India’s undisputed ‘Swachhata Capital.’
