AIIEA holds five-day National Conference in Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: The 27th National Conference of the All India Insurance Employees Association (AIIEA), held during its Platinum Jubilee year, concluded successfully today in Bhubaneswar after five days of intensive deliberations. This historic conference, marking 75 years of the organization’s dedicated service to the insurance employees’ movement and the public sector insurance industry, was attended by approximately 2,000 delegates and observers from across the country.
The conference reviewed the current challenges facing the public sector insurance industry and the working people of India. Expressing serious concern over policies that weaken public sector institutions, the conference unanimously resolved to intensify a nationwide campaign to protect and strengthen the public sector insurance industry, given its crucial role in providing social security and financial stability to the public.
The conference decided to extend full support and solidarity to the strike call given by central trade unions on February 12, 2026, against the anti-worker labor codes. These codes undermine labor rights and attempt to weaken job security, collective bargaining, and social security. The conference also resolved to express firm solidarity with the strike proposed by PSGI employees on January 9, 2026, demanding the immediate notification of wage revision.
Recognizing the importance of organizational strengthening and leadership development, the conference resolved to organize trade union schools at various levels to impart ideological clarity, organizational skills, and awareness of contemporary challenges. Special emphasis will be placed on training young leaders to ensure the continuity, vibrancy, and effectiveness of the movement in the coming years.
The Platinum Jubilee Conference reaffirmed AIIEA’s unwavering commitment to protecting the interests of insurance employees, strengthening public sector insurance, and upholding democratic and trade union rights through united and sustained struggle. The conference extended its heartfelt thanks to the Bhubaneswar Division Life Insurance Employees Association and the reception committee for the successful organization of the conference.
The conference unanimously elected Dharamraj Mahapatra from Raipur, Chhattisgarh as President, Srikanth Mishra from Hyderabad as General Secretary, and B.S. Ravi, also from Hyderabad, as Treasurer for the upcoming term.
