New York.It has announced fresh imposition of more than 500 sanctions on Russia for waging war against Ukraine and the death in custody of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny.

In a statement, President Biden said that these sanctions will ensure that Russian President Vladimir Putin pays a heavy price for aggression against another country and repression at home.
These sanctions were announced a week after Navalny’s death in the Arctic Circle prison.
The European Union has also announced sanctions on 200 companies and individuals accused of helping Russia buy arms.
In response, Russia’s Foreign Ministry has said that the list of EU officials and leaders banned from entering Russia has been extended.
