Nisha Pahuja’s film tells the story of a father’s fight for justice when his 13-year-old daughter is sexually assaulted by three of her relatives. The report also states that the film will be released on Netflix. Dev Patel, Mindy Kaling have also joined as executive producers.
Priyanka shared a post on social media and wrote that when she saw this film for the first time in Toronto in 2022, she was impressed by it. “I am so proud to join the incredible team behind the Academy Award-nominated documentary To Kill a Tiger and to announce that Netflix has acquired global distribution rights to this feature directed by Nisha Pahuja. When I first watched the film in 2022, I was immediately captivated by its poignant story, which depicted a father’s brave struggle within the judicial system to get justice for his daughter.’
Priyanka said that this project shows the story of a father’s immense love and determination for his beloved daughter. He further wrote, ‘This harsh piece of art hits home on many levels. I was born in the state of Jharkhand, where the victim and her father are from, and the daughter of a father who was my champion forever. I became emotional after seeing this story. I can’t wait to show the story of this film to fans around the world.
‘To Kill a Tiger’ has received a nomination in the Best Documentary Feature category at the Academy Awards. The film has received 24 awards at various film festivals around the world. In 2023, Nisha Pahuja was awarded the Directors Guild of Canada’s Excellence in Documentary Award. The documentary made the Oscar shortlist and also received a nomination without any distribution in the United States. This film will be released on Netflix.
