Congress names four LS candidates from Chhattisgarh

Raipur//Congress has finalized the names of candidates for four seats in Chhattisgarh for the Lok Sabha elections. The party has not yet announced the names of the candidates. But according to sources, the party can field former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel from Rajnandgaon and former Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu from Mahasamund. At the same time, the name of Jyotsna Mahant has been decided from Korba and Rajendra Sahu from Durg. It is believed that Congress may announce the candidates today.

There is still a dilemma regarding seven seats of Chhattisgarh. Former Deputy Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh TS Singhdev will not contest the elections. In the Central Election Committee meeting on Thursday, the top leadership of the party brainstormed the names of candidates for 60 seats. Meanwhile, several state units of the Congress have already held meetings of their respective screening committees and sent the list of probable candidates to their states.

Members of the party’s Central Election Committee (CEC) along with former party president chief Sonia Gandhi and organization general secretary KC Venugopal attended the meeting.
