Srivalli pulls off an upset in singles final, wins doubles title

Indore. India’s Srivalli Rashmika, continuing her brilliant game, made an upset in the final of the singles category in the ITF World Tennis Tour W-35 $ 25,000 prize money women’s tennis tournament sponsored by Madhya Pradesh Tennis Association and Indore Tennis Club under the auspices of the Indian Tennis Federation. In the singles semi-finals of this prestigious tennis event being played at Indore Tennis Club, unseeded Srivalli Rashmika of India caused a big upset by defeating seventh seeded Polina Ithatsenko of Russia 6-3, 6-4 in straight sets. 22-year-old Srivalli maintained the lead from the beginning against Polina, a much higher ranked player, and won the set by breaking Polina three times in the first set. In the second set, Polina tried to make a comeback and made Srivalli struggle a bit, but the Russian player looked helpless in front of Srivalli’s excellent service and accurate ground strokes and could not show any magic in both the sets. In this match which lasted for 1 hour 31 minutes, Srivalli hit 7 aces and also made 5 double faults. Whereas Polina served only 1 ace and made 5 double faults. Valli got 57 percent of his marks in the first service.
In the second semi-final of the singles category, second seed Dalila Jakupovic of Slovenia defeated fourth seed Manchaya Savangkaew of Thailand in a thrilling match 7-6(4), 6-3. Dalila was trailing in the first set, and Manchaya was leading 5-3, but 32-year-old Dalila took advantage of her experience and made two consecutive service breaks of Manchaya, leveling the score at 5-5 and then winning two consecutive games.
In the second set, the 21-year-old Thai player could not understand Dalila’s fast and clever game and lost. The final match will be held on Sunday at 10 am between India’s Srivalli Rashmika and second seed Dalila.

// Srivalli -Vaidehi wins doubles title

The women’s doubles title went to India’s Srivalli Rashmika and Vaidehi Chaudhary. This unseeded pair won the title by defeating fourth seeds Li Ya-Hsuan of Chinese Taipei and SoHyun Park of Korea in straight sets 6-3, 7-5. The Indian pair won the first set easily. But in the second set there was a fierce fight between the two pairs. Both pairs saved their serve and brought the set to a tie of 5-5. But after this, Srivalli and Vaidehi performed brilliantly and broke the service of the fourth seeded Chinese Taipei and Korean player and then saved their service and won the set and the match. The winning doubles pair received a prize money of $1437 (approximately Rs. 1 lakh 20 thousand), the runner-up pair received $719 and the pairs playing the semi-finals received a prize money of $359. The winner got 35 points, the runner-up got 23, the semi-finalists got 14, the quarterfinalists got 8, and the pre-quarterfinalists got 4.
