Chhattisgarh girls hockey team wins title
2 min readRajnandgaon l The first All India Sub Junior Women Grass Root Hockey Competition is being organized in Rourkela from March 11 at the world’s largest Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium. Chhattisgarh hockey team won the title by winning the final match of the competition. In the final, the match against Odisha Kutra team was tied with one goal each and the shoot-out was also tied and the match was decided in favor of Chhattisgarh through sudden death. In this tough final match, Chhattisgarh team defeated the opposition team with the help of Kesar, Vasundhara, one goal each from Khwaish and two goals from Simran.
In the Chhattisgarh team, the performance of Shreya, Tehzeeb, Rashi, Paridhi, Simran, Vasundhara, Khwaish, Shyamali, Surekha, Mauli, Kesar, Geetu, Priyanshi, Kajal, Sudha, Geeta Shree and Pallavi was excellent. Shreya Dewangan received the award for the best goalkeeper of the tournament.
Team coach, international hockey player Mrinal Choubey said that this type of performance increases the confidence of the players, these small players maintaining their good performance in every match of the competition is a sign of their bright future.
Chhattisgarh Hockey President Firoz Ansari said that this is the first time that the girls team remained undefeated in the national level hockey competition.
