Maithil community women organize health seminar on cervical, ovarian breast cancer, infertility

Indore. A health workshop was organized by Indore Sakhi Bahinpa Maithilani Samuh to create awareness about the causes and diagnosis of cervical, ovarian, and breast cancer among women and problems related to pregnancy, infertility, and its treatment.

Addressing the health workshop, Dr. Sunita Mishra, Head of the Department of Gynecology, Sri Aurobindo Institute of Medical Sciences, elaborated on the causes, prevention, and diagnosis of cervical, ovarian, and breast cancers in women. She asked women to get their health checkups and cancer screening done to prevent the above-mentioned diseases. She said that early diagnosis helps cure these diseases at an early stage.

Dr Shweta Kaul Jha, the well-known infertility specialist in the city, highlighted the causes and treatment of infertility among women with detailed examples. During the workshop, both Dr. Mishra and Dr Jha answered queries and questions related to the above-mentioned diseases among women and dispelled their misconceptions.

Ritu Jha, Sharda Jha, head and organizing secretary of the Indore Sakhi Bahinpa Maithilani Samuh, said that this health workshop had been organized purportedly to create awareness among women about ovarian, breast, and cervical cancers, as well as the causes and remedies of infertility among women.

They said that quite often it is seen that women are not paying attention to their health while taking care of their families, husbands, and children. As a result, they are surrounded by various health troubles while carrying out their domestic responsibilities and not paying attention to their health.

The objective of today’s workshop was to ensure that women of our society and the community are aware of their health ailments, get their health checkups and screenings done on time so that they can avoid serious diseases and other health problems, and in the eventuality of early symptoms of the above-mentioned diseases, they can be treated on time.

Sushma Jha, Kavita Jha, and Soni Jha of Maithilani Samuh said that after the health workshop, a Holi Milan ceremony was also held in which women of the Maithil community celebrated Holi with flower petals and gulal amidst traditional Maithili Fagua songs.

 Afterward, a banquet was also organized in which the women of the society enjoyed traditional Mithila dishes. Earlier, the program started with the garlanding of the portrait of Mahakavi Vidyapati and the lighting of traditional lamps by the guests. A large number of women and daughters of the Maithili community were present at the programme.
