FIR registered against Bhupesh Baghel in Mahadev Satta App case

An FIR has been registered in the state’s Economic Offenses Investigation Bureau against former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel in Chhattisgarh’s much talked about online Mahadev betting case. This FIR has been lodged by the Deputy Superintendent of Police of the Bureau on behalf of the Enforcement Directorate i.e. ED.
This FIR has been lodged against Bhupesh Baghel at a time when Congress Party has made Bhupesh Baghel its candidate in the Lok Sabha elections from Rajnandgaon.
Apart from former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, many officials and businessmen including Mahadev App owners Saurabh Chandrakar, Ravi Uppal have been named in this FIR. Apart from this, ‘concerned bureaucrats/police officers/OSD officers’ are also mentioned in this FIR without names.
It has been said in the FIR that to stop the action on the crime of Mahadev App, protection was obtained from various police and administrative officials and influential political persons, in return for which they were regularly given huge amount as protection money.
The FIR states that hawala operators were used to arrange and distribute the illegal money and the illegal money was transported to the UAE.
Earlier in November, ED had claimed that it has recorded the statement of a cash courier, who alleged that the promoters of Mahadev App have so far paid Rs 508 crore to Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.
What is Mahadev App?
According to ED, Saurabh Chandrakar, a resident of Bhilai city of Chhattisgarh, started the online betting app along with his partner Ravi Uppal.
It is alleged that a large number of policemen of the state not only patronized this business but also became a part of this business.
