During this time, Congress is preparing to show unity in the party as well as show strength. Former CM Bhupesh Baghel and PCC Chief Deepak Baij along with all the senior leaders of the party will participate in the nomination rally.
Bastar parliamentary seat is still with the Congress. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the current PCC Chief Deepak Baij was elected MP from this seat. This time the party has cut his ticket and given ticket to sixth time MLA and former minister Kawasi Lakhma from Konta seat. Bastar is the only seat among the 11 Lok Sabha seats of the state, where voting is to be held in the first phase. Monday is the last date for filing nomination papers. Voting for this phase will be held on April 19.
The program of former CM Baghel’s participation in Lakhma’s nomination rally has been released. Baghel will reach Jagdalpur tonight itself. Baghel will leave for Jagdalpur by road from Bhilai residence at 1 pm today. He will reach Jagdalpur at 7 pm. After attending the nomination rally tomorrow, he will leave Jagdalpur at 2:30 pm. In the evening, he will hold a meeting with workers in Bhanupratappur and from there he will go to Dallirajhara and will stay there for the night.
