Changes in two IPL matches

New Delhi (Sports Newsbuddy) : The schedule of the match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals to be held on 17 April at Eden Gardens in Kolkata has been changed. Now this match between these two teams will be played a day earlier i.e. on 16 April. Earlier on this day, there was a match between Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals, but due to the change in the match between KKR and Rajasthan, now the match between Gujarat and Delhi will be held on 17 April at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The change in the schedule of these IPL matches has been taken in view of Ram Navami. This annual festival is celebrated with great pomp by the followers of Sanatan Dharma across the country. At the same time, Lok Sabha elections will also start in West Bengal from 19 April. In view of this, Kolkata Police had expressed its inability to provide security for the match. There were constant speculations about the change in the match between KKR and Rajasthan. It was reported that discussions were going on between Kolkata Police, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), but finally it was decided to change the date of the match. According to news agency , Kolkata Police wrote in a letter to CAB President Snehasish Ganguly, “This match is being held on the day of Ram Navami and due to elections, some security personnel will already be deployed there, so we are unable to provide security for the match on April 17.”

No decision on tickets

Although the change in the date of the match between KKR-Rajasthan and Gujarat-Delhi has been announced, IPL has not yet clarified what will happen to the tickets already sold for these matches.

The schedule was announced in two phases

Keeping in view the Lok Sabha elections, BCCI had decided the schedule of the 17th season of IPL in two phases. Initially, the board announced the schedule of 21 matches of this tournament and after the announcement of the dates of the Lok Sabha elections, the schedule of the remaining 53 matches was announced. While preparing the schedule, BCCI took full care that in any situation there should be no problem in the home-away format. Lok Sabha elections will be held in seven phases in the country, which will start from April 19 and the voting of the last phase will be held on June 1, while the results will be declared on June 4.
