NIT Raipur hosts informative session to improve mental health

Raipur (Team Newsbuddy): National Institute of Technology Raipur organised a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on the theme ‘Empowering Educators’ on 4th April 2024 and an Exam Season Survival Guide- ‘Thrive Through Tests’ on 5th April 2024 to mark World Health Day. World Health Day is celebrated every year on 7th April. The keynote speaker of the event was Shivali Srivastava, Psychologist and Co-founder of Betterspace. The seminar focused on healthy communication, social-emotional learning and strategies to maintain mental health of students inside and outside the classroom.

The event was jointly organised by Dean Student Welfare, Department of Health Services and Student Mental Health and Wellness Committee, NIT Raipur. The event was conducted by Associate Dean (Student Welfare) Dr. M.K. Prasad, Medical Officer Dr. Saumya Agarwal, and Assistant Professor of Computer Science and Engineering Dr. Deepak Singh.

The Institute Director Dr. N.V. Ramana Rao, Dean (Planning & Development) Dr. R.K. Tripathi, Dean (Academics) Dr. Shreesh Verma and Dean (Student Welfare) Dr. Nitin Jain graced the occasion with their presence. Other faculty members and students were also present.

Addressing the gathering on the first day, Dr. N.V. Ramana Rao emphasized the need to create a stress-free environment among students. He emphasized the role of teachers to maintain the mental health of students.

The Faculty Development Program was followed by an informative session led by Shivli Srivastava. Shivli Srivastava enthralled the audience with her expertise by highlighting various aspects of healthy communication and socio-emotional learning, which are important for promoting positive relationships between teachers and students.
