Indore tackles rising health concerns
1 min readIndore:(Team Newsbuddy): The health index of India’s cleanest city Indore has pointed towards a worrying trend if the results of the recent health survey of city people are to be taken into account. According to a recent health survey conducted by a leading health lab of the city, revealed concerning trends, over 32% of residents are pre-diabetic. Nearly 30% have high levels of bad cholesterol. A staggering 83% are deficient in vitamin D.
The survey, encompassing over 2 lakh people, serves as a wake-up call for the city. Doctors are urging residents to adopt healthier lifestyles to prevent chronic diseases. The survey also found that of the total people surveyed, 16.47% have vitamin B-12 deficiency, 12.68% have thyroid abnormalities, 34.5% of those tested have high blood pressure.
“The survey results are an eye-opener,” says Dr. Anil Dongre. “Nearly half the population shows signs of health concerns. We need to move beyond our love for delicious food and prioritize physical activity.”
Dr. Vinita Kothari, Director of Central Lab, highlights the alarming rise of these conditions, traditionally associated with older age groups, now affecting younger demographics.
Indore’s love for food must be balanced with a commitment to healthy living, she said, underlining the need of encouraging city residents to increase physical activity, get regular checkups, maintain a balanced diet and seek professional guidance for managing pre-existing conditions
By taking proactive steps, Indore can become a leader in both culinary delights and a healthy lifestyle, she added.
