The election of General Council and Managing Committee was held after sunset in Rajkumar College of Chhattisgarh, one of the historical educational institutions of the country. Managing Committee Chairman Surguja Maharaj and former Deputy Chief Minister TS Singhdeo became the unopposed chairman.

While in the General Council Election, there was a close contest for the post of President between Odisha Barma Maharaj Priya Vikram and Raja Praveer Chandra Bhanjdeo of Mayurbhanj State of Odisha. In this, Odisha Barma Maharaj Priya Vikram got 15 votes and Raja Mayurbhanj Praveer Chandra got 12 votes, thus Priya Vikram was elected as the new President of Rajkumar College.
The descendants of the kings and princes are also elected to the management committee of the historic Rajkumar College, established with the grants of the royal families of Chhattisgarh and Odisha. In these two elections held in about 3 to 4 years, the President and Chairman of the General Council and Managing Committee are usually elected.

Election tradition

Elections of both the committees of Rajkumar College have usually been done before sunset as per tradition. That is, before this election, the election of the General Council President or the Managing Committee Chairman used to take place from morning to dusk. On an average, it used to be completed before sunset, but this time the process was completed after sunset on Sunday late evening. There was a lot of discussion about breaking the tradition like this.

Election of Chairman-President takes place

The land of Rajkumar College is government land and is on lease. But the college building, guest house, hostel, clock tower and all other building construction work has been done with the contribution of the royal families of Odisha and Chhattisgarh. The descendants of these royal families hold the office bearers and voting power of both the committees. Usually, as per mutual agreement, the President of Odisha for one term while a member of the Chhattisgarh royal family becomes the Chairman Managing Committee.
