Bhilai’s fire brigade team extinguished massive fire in Raipur
2 min readBhilai (Team Newsbuddy). A massive fire broke out in the transformer storage yard of Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited’s sub-division office in Gudhiyari, Raipur. About 2800-3000 old and new oil-filled transformers of various capacities, oil drums, oil tankers and office buildings caught fire. About 20-25 fire fighting vehicles of various departments like Municipal Corporation, Municipality, Railways, Raipur Airport, Hospital etc. were engaged to control this fire. When the fire could not be controlled despite many efforts, the state government officials contacted BSP. The fire department of the plant had made its plan as soon as it contacted to control this massive fire accident. Under which, on one side the fire department vehicles of the plant and on the other side the fire fighting vehicles of other departments created pressure and finally the fire was controlled with the help of the plant’s central fire station. Continuous efforts were being made to control the fire in Raipur but due to heat, strong winds, fierce flames and transformer oil, all efforts seemed to be failing.
After assessing the situation, it was decided to call the fire brigade of Bhilai Steel Plant. As per the instructions of Anirban Das Gupta, Director-in-charge of Bhilai Steel Plant, a joint fire tender CG 07 CJ 3745 was dispatched from the Central Fire Station of Bhilai Steel Plant along with the crew members. The following officers and employees of Bhilai Steel Plant played a major role in controlling the massive fire accident at Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited, Sub Division Office, Gudhiyari, Raipur. Which includes Deputy Chief Fire Officer Sanjay Bhaskar Dhawas, Fire Officer Yogesh Kumar Sharma, Fire Officer Karunesh Kumar Devhare, Leading Fire Man Mandhata Goyal, Leading Fire Man Gulshan Kothari, Leading Fire Man Arun Kumar Dhruve, Fire Engine Driver Chinnappa, Fire Engine Driver Asim Kumar Borkar, Fire Man cum Fire Engine Driver Talwinder Singh, Fire Man cum Fire Engine Driver Dinesh Prasad Gupta, Fire Man cum Fire Engine Driver Lekhraj Meena, Fire Man cum Fire Engine Driver Nitin Kumar Thakur, Fire Man cum Fire Engine Driver Chandan Kanwar. There was heavy fire, extreme heat with smoke in an area of 10-12 acres at the fire site. After reaching the fire site, BSP fire tenders were positioned on one side of the Sub Division Office, next to the residential quarters. The residential area was in danger due to heavy fire, intense heat and heavy dense smoke.
