IM Himal Gusain wins UICC Indore International Trophy

Indore: Late Abhay Chhajlani Ji Memorial 2nd UICC Indore International Rapid Rating Chess Competition with a prize money of Rs. 3 lakhs concluded here. The program was chaired by former international hockey player Mir Ranjan Negi. Special guests included Chartered Accountant and Treasurer of Shri Satya Sai School Shyam Bhatia, Madhya Pradesh Chess Association Secretary Kapil Saxena and Chief Orbiter Nilesh Kumawat who distributed the prizes. On this occasion, South Canara Director Rakesh Soni, former MP Champion Kamal Verma, Mithlesh Camera, Piyush Zamindar and Ajay Soni were present.

There were three international orbiters in the orbiter team which included Rajasthan’s orbiter Nilesh Kumawat as chief orbiter, Maharashtra’s Deepak Chavan as deputy chief, Punjab’s Varun Kumar who were supported by SNA Yogesh Mohite, deputy chief orbiter, Akanksha Astik, Bhavesh Pandiyar, Kushal Patel, Aanchal Dhakad, Utkarsh Agarwal and Saurabh Soni.
Organizing secretary Sunil Soni gave information about the competition and expressed gratitude to everyone, while on behalf of the committee the guests were welcomed by Yogesh Mohite, Akanksha Astik, Bhavesh Pandiyar, Kushal Patel, Divyanshu Agarwal, Mayank Chimnani, Devendra Parmar and Sumukh Soni. Organizing Secretary Sunil Soni informed that in the two-day 2nd UICC Indore International Open FIDE Rating Rapid Chess Competition, organized on 13-14 April in the beautiful premises of Abhay Prashal, 375 players from more than 20 states, from the age of 6 to 75 years, participated, out of which 150 were rated players. Indore players participated in large numbers in the number of 200 and at the end of 9 rounds, UICC competition got its champion in the form of IM Himal Gusain (8/9 points) of Chandigarh, who won this title on the basis of tie break in the presence of many great players. Gaurav Nigam of Madhya Pradesh was the runner-up, while Arun Kataria of Rajasthan remained at the third place due to tie break with equal points.

Dewas Collector Rishabh Gupta, Indore Municipal Corporation Additional Commissioner Siddharth Jain, all the guests, players and family members praised the well-organized and wonderful organization of Unite Indore Chess Club, the cooperation and hosting of Abhay Prashal and Table Tennis Trust and thanked the chief patron of the organizing committee Vinay Chhajlani, Jayesh Acharya, Nilesh Ved and Rinku Acharya for the good organization.
