Liquor scam : Anil Tuteja on 5-days ED remand

Raipur (Team Newsbuddy) : Retired IAS Anil Tuteja has been sent on 5-day ED remand after completion of 2 days of judicial remand in the alleged liquor scam case of Chhattisgarh. He was produced in ED’s special court on Wednesday. After hearing the arguments of both the parties, the court has issued the order. At the same time, ACB-EOW, which is investigating the scam, has also detained liquor businessman Pappu Dhillon.

Tuteja was produced in DJ Court. Where the defense lawyer objected to the ED remand while presenting his side in the court. Tuteja’s lawyer had given reference to the decision of Karnataka High Court 2023. It has been said in the judgment that the case should be heard in the special court under the Special Act.

Appearance through video conference

On Tuesday, retired IAS officer Anil Tuteja was presented in the court through video conference. The jail management expressed its inability to bring him to the court due to insufficient security forces.

Earlier, relief was given by the Supreme Court

On April 8, the Supreme Court had cancelled the ED’s ECIR in the money laundering case in the liquor scam case in Chhattisgarh. With this, 6 accused including Anil Tuteja and his son Yash got relief. But, only after the Supreme Court’s decision, the Enforcement Directorate has filed a new ECIR in this case, based on the FIR of ACB-EOW. ED is investigating this matter afresh.

Architect of liquor scam

ED has given many grounds for the arrest of Anil Tuteja. ED has given details of the ground of arrest on about 16 pages. ED has said that Anwar Dhebar formed a syndicate in the liquor scam and the most power of that syndicate came from Anil Tuteja, who was in the role of controller. ED has described him as the architect of the liquor scam.

Summons being sent to people
According to sources, ED has also started sending summons to people. In the FIR filed by EOW, a named report has been filed against 70 people. It is being told that the same names are included in the fresh ECIR as well. ED is sending summons to everyone for questioning.
